Event
“China Data Content of Year 2022”, formerly known as "China Data Content Competition", is a flagship event of the China Data Content Conference (CDCC). The event has been held 4 times since 2019. Instructed by the Computer-Mediated Communication History Division of the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Communication, the event in 2022 will be co-hosted by the College of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University and the Data-viz Education Foundation and will be co-sponsored by The Paper and will be organized by Beijing Data Visualization Technology Ltd. The event will open for submissions from April to December 2022, aiming to develop a new ecology of the data visualization industry, explore the value of data narrative, and promote the innovation of works, products, and applications in the field of data narration and communication through design-driven innovative integration.
Instructions + Requirements
“China Data Content of Year 2022” is open to all forms of original works and products with data content and visualization, including articles, information graphics, posters, cartoons, interactives, videos, etc. All works should be submitted as URL links (Submission Address) and will be reviewed by the jury.

Requirements

Entries should be published between July 1, 2021, and Aug 7, 2022.

Entries should be submitted through the official website registration system as links. Entries are recommended to be published on the online platform of our official media partner The Paper(The solicited works published through The Paper creator platform will have the opportunity to obtain the official traffic support of The Paper app and 1000 yuan reward in the weekly / monthly list of The Paper platform. The Paper Submission deadline: July 15, 2022).

A valid entry should be posted publicly and visible to all, complete, online display and operation, with a valid link until the final list is announced. Online documents and cloud drive links will not be accepted. Weibo entries should be set free of browsing restrictions. Posters should be published through public channels. According to the Regulations on the Map Management of the People's Republic of China, please make sure that the map of the People's Republic of China is used correctly in your entries.

Participants can be individuals, media, or institutions, regardless of industry or field. There is no limit to the number of team members of each media or institution.

One participant can submit multiple entries. Each entry must be submitted in only ONE professional category. You can choose one public regard category for your entry simultaneously.

If an entry is submitted repeatedly, the last submitted version will be reviewed.

Entries for the Jury's Special Unit (Outstanding Individual / Team) and the Social Responsibility Unit (Best Organizational Award, Best Data Service) are nominated and confirmed by the Jury, no need to be registered.

    2022 is a superb sports year, with athletes making new history in the Beijing Olympic Winter Games, with the excellent sports successors from FISU World University Games, Asian Games, and Asian Youth Games building up their momentum. This topic focuses on Chinese stories in international events. Using data visualization as a powerful tool, the stories should record shining points in China's sports history in multiple dimensions, from Chinese athletes' spirit to their training history, competition moments, event highlights, and so on. With creative data content ideas and innovative presenting forms, the entries will show the sports stories of China and the world in interesting, meaningful, valuable, and interactive ways, highlighting the special value of sports.
  • Women and Development

    This topic served public regard on women's issues. It provides a special data exploration approach and an indispensable concern, devoted to providing a more diversified and rational data field for women's issues in China. The suggested topics may be women's social roles and career development, women's media practitioners and media personnel, women's status quo in media education, women's middle and high-level management and leadership in media and other industries, women's development barriers in the workplace, women's cognition and ability of self-protection and prevention from possible harassment, social and policy support for women's development and other related aspects.

Professor,School of Journalism & Communication, Peking University

Ms Xu was Executive vice Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, Peking University since March 2006 and led the setup of the Financial Media Program in 2013 when worked at the HSBC Business School, Peking University. Before that, she served as professor and PhD supervisor at the College of Journalism, Renmin University of China from 1998 to early 2002. She was previously a senior journalist on international news for 20 years.
