Event
China Data Content Competition 2021 is open for registration from April to September. The competition is co-hosted by the College of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University and Data-viz Education Foundation. Professionals at media, institutions and universities are all welcome to enter for awards and register for conference. With the theme of "Data Points & Creative Visualization-- Discover the value of data story-telling". It aims to improve the utilization level of information, deeply excavate the value of data narrative and further promote the creative presentation of data by means of data visualization.
Award Categories
China Data Content Competition 2021 welcomes original works and data products in the field of data content and visualization, entries include but are not limited to: graphics, information graph, data cartoon, interactives and videos, etc. All works should be submitted online in the form of links.

Requirements

Entries should publish works between July 1, 2020 and July 28, 2021.

Works can be participated by individuals or institutions, regardless of identity or number.

First of all, one of the seven Professional Awards should be selected for each work. At the same time, one Public Regard Award can be selected.

Jury's Special Awards (Outstanding Individual / Team) and Social Responsibility Awards (Best Organizational Award, Best Data Service) do not need to be registered.

Works can not be re registered, if re registered, subject to the last time.

  • Centennial of the Party

    During the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, the competition is calling for excellent data content works related to cultural, economic and social development with the theme of CPC's 100th anniversary.
  • Women and Development

    A special data exploration and indispensable concern, devoted to providing a more diversified and rational data field for women's issues in China. The suggested data topics include but are not limited to women's social roles, career development, women's media practitioners, media personnel and women's status quo in media education, women's middle and high-level management and leadership in media and other industries, women's development problems in the workplace, women's cognition and ability of self-protection and prevention from possible harassment, social and policy support for women's development and other related aspects.
  • Moving Towards Carbon Neutrality

    The suggested topic scope focuses on climate change response in a broad sense and shows the global climate change situation and the environmental and socio-economic impacts. Response plans comprehensively from carbon reduction, carbon peaking, climate adaptation, etc. it is including but not limited to the carbon neutrality path in various elements such as international governance, national policy, economy, law, energy, and urban development, etc.

Xu Hong

Professor,School of Journalism & Communication, Peking University

Ms Xu was Executive vice Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, Peking University since March 2006 and led the setup of the Financial Media Program in 2013 when worked at the HSBC Business School, Peking University. Before that, she served as professor and PhD supervisor at the College of Journalism, Renmin University of China from 1998 to early 2002. She was previously a senior journalist on international news for 20 years.

Dr. Ying Chen, Senior Research Fellow at RIEco, CASS, Professor at CASS Graduate School

Deputy Director of CASS Research Center for Sustainable Development (RCSD) . She worked as a Lead Author for Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) and AR6. She is a vice Chairman of Chinese National Committee for Future Earth (CNC-FE), vice Director of Environmental Economics Branch of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, vice Director of Climate Change and Low Carbon Development Committee of Chinese Meteorological Society. Her works were awarded for Pushan Award for Excellent Paper on International Economics,Sun Yefang Award for Excellent Paper on Economic.
Review rules

There are seven professional awards, and each entry can submit in one category and paralled category of Public Regard Awarda. The Jury's Special Awards (Outstanding Individual / Team) and Social Responsibility Awards (Best Organizational Award、 Best data Service).are not for registration (Auto-registration).

The "Outstanding Individual / Team" Award is selected form those nonimated by judges. Awards are given to authors and their instructors.

The“Best Organizational Award" refers to the top 10 universities or institutions with the largest number of submitted works.

The "Best Data Service"is for the institutions those provide data and data services

Works cannot be submitted repeatedly, and the last submission shall prevail.

The jury will evaluate and score the works from dimensions including issue theme , information design and video presentation, technology development and data visualization, and data application.

Longlist will be announcement on September 6 2021 via the website and official WeChat account.
